Why do people on this board have a stick up their ass all the time? It was meant as a joke. Are all hockeybuzz people like this in real life? Zero sense of humor?

Might have a little to do with a Shark fan feeling his team has been the victim of a bullsh*t suspension that even several Kings' fans was excessive.

Or it may have more to do with keyboard courage. Easy to be a jerk when you can hide behind the net.

Not gonna debate whether if it was a bad hit or not. Waste of time... The NHL thought it was. Both teams lost players. You can be mature about it and go on with the series or sit there and sulk. I prefer to enjoy a darn good series.

This is an asinine statement defending an asinine suspension by an ass of a NHL director.

That suspension is a joke. Shanahan is the worst judge of these hits the NHL has ever seen. When will the NHL finally find someone who knows what a suspendible offence is? Seriously they're flirting with taking hits out of the game, its atrocious. Keep in mind that Shanahan was one of the biggest voices complaining about the clutching and grabbing during the lockout, whining that it shouldn't be allowed in the game. Now that all these hits are the cause of that change, he's the judge of what a suspension is? Absolutely ridiculous.

I'm cheerin for LA and know damn well that wasn't a suspension. This is about the game, not about your player who put himself in a dumb position. You're the one with colored glasses on.

If the onus is on the player getting hit to stay out of a dumb position, then Brown should not have gotten a suspension for his "elbow" to Pominville. I personally think that the onus is on the hitter to avoid making a head shot, and that if he can't be sure that he's not going to make principal contact to the head, then he shouldn't make contact. By that rationale, Brown deserved his 2 game Shanaban, and Torres deserved roughly the same. However, since Brown had no suspension history, and Torres had a bajillion fines/suspensions, they increased it accordingly.

Shanahan even says in his videos that the three criteria for determining discipline are the hit itself, if an injury is caused, and if the hitter has a history of dirty hits. The hit was borderline, Stoll got hurt, and Torres is a piece of dog $hit. 3-6 games sounds about right.

I can just picture Kevin Bieksa sitting at home on his sofa watching that hit and yelling obscenities at the TV because Vlasic is a faker.

Also, even it it was a dirty hit (it wasn't), Vlasic was back in the third period (i.e. not injured), and Carter does not have any previous disciplinary action against him. He'd get at most a $2500 fine or a 1-game suspension. However, it's moot since it wasn't a dirty hit and Vlasic is a dirty faker.

Definitely similar hits and I can see the comparison. Stoll's stick glanced the puck, but at no point was he ever in position to control the puck. He reached for it and got hammered from the side. If Gryba didn't hit Eller, Eller would have taken a tape to tape pass and gained the blue line. He had more stick on puck then Stoll did.

Both are dangerous hits. Torres hit was worse then Gryba, although Stoll was much more at fault then Eller for taking this hit. Stoll forgot who he was on the ice with, lost his focus for a second, and got cleaned. If Stoll would have seen him coming and challenged for body position, nobody gets hurt. Eller just had no chance.

I think you mean Gryba. The hit on Eller was a legal hit, nothing suspend able on that play. Hopefully someday you whiny Habs fans will get it through your thick skulls. Frig you guys are whiney female doges

This suspension just proves that Shanny is nothing more than a league puppet.

Would an 'independent' disciplinarian really set a new standard in round two of the NHL playoffs? I'm pretty sure this is the first time a suspension has been termed in 'series' instead of 'games'.

I don't think an independent person would do something this unprecedented without league orders.

Dude, this has been talked about over and over and over.

NO one thought it was suspension, worthy.. except Habs fans. (And Shanahan due to league orders).

The entire CBC panel, the entire TSN panel all were shocked that he was suspended. McGuire was on Ottawa radio again this morning saying he didn't feel that Gryba should have been suspended. The primary point of contact was the shoulder and then the head hit.

No the real joke is the fans ,who's team got their asses kicked, but they continue to cry and whine about a play that happened in game 1. Your team blew it bud, you lost cause your soft, not because Gryba knocked Eller into next season.
